I would not recommend this to a novice whiskey drinker or if you don't really appreciate an oaky profile. It is oaky! Anyone saying this is not oaky, I disagree lol. It is very oaky - a monster with a lot going on, and it pulls no punches. That being said, it's extremely well integrated. Props to the Heaven Hill team for taking something at 22 years old and 129 proof and balancing it the way that they did. It's a master class, in my humble opinion. However, if you know you are sensitive to that, this is probably not for you. If you like your bourbon more like around 8 years or less and you like the bright, fruity, sweet aspects and not as much oak, then don't buy this. It won't be worth the money. And that's OK! Everyone likes different things and that's the great thing about talking about it with people and enjoying the experiences. As for me, this is personally the best bourbon that I've ever tried.
