Full proof for full flavour. An honest Pre-Prohibition style bourbon.
Knob Creek 12 Year Small Batch Bourbon was originally released as a limited edition in the fall of 2019, but the brand announced it a permanent addition to its portfolio in April 2020. It is aged for 12 years and bottled at 100 proof.
Tasting Notes:
Colour: Dark amber with a touch of red.
Aroma: A nose of heavy toffee with charred undertones, matured tobacco, toasted coconut and dark chocolate.
Taste: The taste has bold and spicy overtones, leathered fruits, vanilla and caramelized wood.
Finish: The finish is warm with the smoky char notes remaining for a lingering heat.
"Until now, most Knob Creek has been bottled at 9 years of age or younger for good reason: There’s no guarantee that bourbon will taste good after a dozen years in the barrel—let alone great. This one is richly complex from the start: York Peppermint Pattie, raisins, baking spice, dark chocolate-covered cherries, iced tea, and tobacco barn appear on the nose, followed by a chewy, full palate laden with cinnamon, allspice, and ginger, and perfectly balanced with sweet berry cobbler, chocolate ganache, and caramel. The finish goes on and on. Add in a fair price and excellent availability as part of Knob Creek’s core lineup, and only one question remains: What are you waiting for?" - Susannah Skiver Barton, Whisky Advocate (95 Points)
"The 12 year expression is a rounder, richer bottling of Knob Creek 9, though still with a distinctive kick and spice notes. Vanilla, molasses, and cedar come through on the palate, leading to a warming finish with hints of chestnut and orange peel. It's a welcome addition to the line, and great for sipping." - Jacob Grier, Distiller (88 Points)
"Knob Creek 12 Year is a reminder that a bourbon doesn’t need to be a high octane barrel proof pick, a limited edition special release, or even a single barrel to offer a fantastic sip that is available year round." - Breakingbourbon.com
