Back in April, Brock, Scott Allan (from TWL) and a group of our best WHA customers joined us for an unforgettable Kentucky Bourbon Trail tour. Naturally, we made a pilgrimage to one of our favourite distilleries on earth: Buffalo Trace.

We picked a few barrels that day… but there was one whiskey we haven’t stopped thinking about since.

This bourbon needs no introduction. It’s one of the most in-demand wheated bourbons in the world — and the last time we released a Weller pick, it sold out in hours.

Bottled at the same 114 proof the spirit entered the barrel at, this release is non-chill filtered, preserving all the naturally occurring oils and flavour compounds from distillation and aging. Expect a rich, oily mouthfeel, layered sweetness, and that unmistakable Weller warmth bourbon fans chase across continents.

William Larue Weller developed his original bourbon recipe with wheat, rather than rye. Bottled at the same 114 proof the spirit was when it entered into the barrel, this non-chill filtered wheated bourbon forgoes chill filtration to preserve all the naturally occurring residual oils and flavors that occur during the distillation and aging process (potentially making it appear cloudy at cold temperatures). This bourbon balances a rich mouth feel, with robust notes of vanilla and oak. A whiskey that satisfies the demand of the non-chill filtered whiskey enthusiasts, honoring the man who made wheated bourbon legendary.

Tasting Notes:

Having a nose of vanilla, dark cherries and caramel. On the palate, there is a balance of caramel and toasted oak. The finish is said to be long, with notes of crème brûlée and chocolate.
