Wild Turkey Diamond Anniversary Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey 750mL

Released in 2014, Wild Turkey Diamond Anniversary Bourbon celebrates the passion, hard work and dedication of Master Distiller Jimmy Russell. Wild Turkey Diamond Anniversary was crafted with the blessing and approval of Jimmy’s son, Eddie Russell, who has been making whiskey by his dad’s side in Kentucky for over 30-years. This exclusive, limited-edition bourbon is a mixture of 13- and 16-year-old whiskies that have been hand-selected by Eddie and masterfully blended to celebrate the Wild Turkey Master himself.

Tasting Notes:

Nose: Super sweet banana, like the finished banana jellies, marshmallows, cotton candy, sweetest honey, ham, hazelnut, peanuts, extreme salted caramel, grapefruit and orange peel, red apple, chestnut liqueur and a touch of glue.

Taste: Hazelnut, peanut, orange peel, flambé, charred oak, nice bonfire, bacon, sweet honey with rosemary and lavender and fennel, nutmeg, cinnamon, mushy banana, burnt marshmallows, some baked apple and chestnut, camphor, caraway, nice buttery-creamy.

Finish: Sweet, warming, with nice spicy and roasted notes, medium to long, balanced with oak, cinnamon, bacon and honey.

The bourbon isn't extraordinarily chewy, but there is smoke that seems to sidle next to both the fruity and spicy flavors on the palate. It is a more conservative Turkey compared to many of the previous limited-edition releases. But still, this is pleasant, with caramel and creamy vanilla intertwined with soft candied orange, cinnamon, polished oak, and a hint of evergreen.
