2025 Best Anejo Tequila (Tastings.com)

1800 GuachiMonton celebrates the legacy and agriculture of the tequila region of Mexico. Inspired by the jewel of Jalisco, Los Guachimontones, these circular pyramids were built from the same rich, red clay soil from which today’s best blue weber agave is grown, and that our ceramic keepsake bottle honours.

This special añejo first aged in American and French Oak barrels, then finished in orange tequila liqueur casks as a nod to the orange trees that were once cultivated in this part of Jalisco.

Tasting Notes:

Colour: Amber with golden nuances and coppery sparkles.

Aroma: Fresh citrus orange, honey, caramel, vanilla, oak and ripe fruit notes.

Flavour: Velvety, soft, pleasantly bitter.

Finish: Fresh and persistent finish.

"Dark amber color. Aromas and flavors of spiced orange, sandalwood, orange oils, and cardamom with a moderately sweet medium-to-full body and a tingling, long finish that shows accents of grand marnier, menthol, anise, and burnt sugar. A distinctively minty and cooling Añejo Tequila that captivates the mind and palate." - Tastings.com (94 Points)

"Overall, I find it to be a really refreshing take on Tequila without being too far distanced from the base spirit. This is complex on the palate, yet quick and clean on the finish, and has such a vivid set of aromas. It works in the form of a cocktail or a shot - dealer's choice. Altogether a mighty fine showing from 1800! And of course they'd know a thing or two as one of the founding families of Tequila." - 88 Bamboo
