An Cuan Garbh {An Coo-ann Gaa-riv}, meaning “the rough seas” in Scots Gaelic, marks the second chapter in our Westering Home Collection - a journey shaped not by departure, but by endurance. Where the first chapter of Turas Math began with preparation, this release reflects the crossing itself: a passage defined by challenge, transformation, and discovery. The spirit evolves as it rests beside the Sound of Islay — shaped by oak, sea air, and time. Layers of orchard fruit and soft citrus unfold into honeyed depth and gentle spice, capturing the balance between resilience and reward. Like the voyage it represents, An Cuan Garbh is a testament to patience and craft — where each moment of maturation brings greater complexity, and every element works in quiet harmony to guide the spirit home.

Finished in white port casks from Portugal’s Douro Valley, it carries the richness of distant shores and the reward of the journey’s end. Waves of orchard fruit, peach, and apricot break against bright notes of candied citrus, before easing into smooth layers of honeyed almonds, toasted malt, and gentle spice.

Tasting Notes:

Nose: Honeysuckle, elderflower, orchard fruit, candied citrus, honey warmth.

Palate: Peach, apricot candied lemon zest, honeyed almonds, toasted malt, ginger spice.

Finish: Lingering nutty warmth with sweet candied fruit.

"I believe this year's release from The Westering Home Collection will be a hit in the whisky market. It's a superb whisky with plenty of dark fruit, thick caramel syrup, a pleasant hint of salt, and a delicate smoky haze. It's very smooth to sip, pleasantly warming, and the alcohol is perfectly hidden. For me, it's worth the price." - Whiskybase User (90 Points)

"Neat, the 51.6% ABV holds its shape well. It’s warm but not aggressive, and the White Port influence comes through clearly. With water, the whisky opens up considerably: the floral and fruit elements become more expressive, the maritime quality recedes slightly, and you’re left with something almost delicate at its core. Both approaches work. This is the kind of dram that rewards attention and patience." - The Daily Whisky

"This feels like a really fitting whisky for the Westering Home story. There’s that sense of Islay, the sea, the journey and the wildness of the island, but a softer, fruit-led side from the White Port casks balances it. It’s rich without feeling too heavy, coastal without being overly rugged, and the peach, citrus and almond notes make it feel beautifully layered. I am a huge fan of this flavour profile, definitely a favourite for me this year!" - Jake Leaver
